First call to Block.IS Cluster Mission

The European DIGITAL SME Alliance, on behalf of Block.IS, organise the first call to Block.IS Cluster Mission on 27th-28th September 2019 Novi Sad (Serbia) in collocation with the Startup Weekend Novi Sad.

Who should attend?

Block.IS Cluster Missions is addressed to both SMEs and Clusters to engage and connect clusters with different levels of development and from  the sectors of focus (ICT and agri-food, logistics, finances). The Missions allow the participants to understand and ‘feel’ the hosting cluster ecosystem, learn the processes required to boost innovation, find out about the available resources, build relationships and expand their networks and capacity to support their SMEs’ growth. Moreover, they will present and represent their clusters in the Block.IS clusters community, and they will have the opportunity to bring one of their star SMEs to share a success story regarding blockchain technology.

During the event, the participants will be invited to share insights about their home clusters and, most importantly, they would have the occasion to build a personal relationship with other clusters and local networks.

Financial Support

Block.IS will provide a travel voucher of up to €750,00 for each participant. The participant will receive €300 for cost of stay (if the participant’s residence is in place of mission hosting no costs of stay are given), and up to €450 to travel their travel expenses (lump sum based on distance).

Eligibility of applicants

There are two categories of eligible applicants:

  1. legal entities which are either cluster organizations or business network organizations (additional value for the applicant organization is if it is registered on the European Cluster Collaboration Platform (ECCP)).
  2. SME entities developing blockchain-based solutions.

Notwithstanding to which category the applicant belongs, it must be a legal entity established and based in one of the EU Member States or an H2020 Associated country as defined in the H2020 rules for participation.

Applying entities will be informed soon after the application deadline about the results of the selection (approximately one week after each mission’s application deadline) and an official confirmation on the business trip and details will follow.

Selection of participants

Evaluation is made by 3 evaluators: (i) representatives of the Block.IS consortium – a member of coordinator’s team, (ii) a hosting cluster representative and (iii) a representative of another cluster partner in the consortium.

Clusters will be selected based on the four criteria: cluster’s capacity to generate impact; blockchain innovation generation potential; geographical coverage; pitch presentation.

Meanwhile, SME applicants for cluster missions will be assessed based on their pitch presentations, with each jury member giving a grade from 1 (worst) to 5 (best) and the final mark will be the arithmetic mean of assessments given by each jury member.

How to register to the event

The expression of interest should encompass:

  • a filled in application form on the cluster, network organization or SME with proof/evidence of the legal entity (Cluster or SMEs);
  • a short presentation of the cluster organisation or pitch presentation of the SME in English language, using PowerPoint.

Applicants are expected to provide complete, accurate data and contact details.
