We are currently looking to appoint a Technology Manager to strengthen our Brussels-based secretariat. The Technology Manager will be responsible for coordinating DIGITAL SME’s policy and projects activities related to technology, specifically including standardisation.  Relevant digital technologies include: Cybersecurity, Internet of Things, Artificial Intelligence, Telecommunications, Cloud Computing and Smart Cities and Smart Energy Grid.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide clear policy with the involvement of members on regulatory issues with a technological dimension;
  • Plan lobbying actions on relevant issues;
  • Identify areas for standardisation development related to DIGITAL SME’s strategic priorities;
  • Oversee the work of technical experts in standardisation committes, ensuring that sufficient information is available to experts on policy matters and viceversa;
  • Formulate policy and represent DIGITAL SME at external bodies such as CEN, CENELEC, ETSI and ISO/IEC;
  • Promote and represent DIGITAL SME through public events, working groups, speeches, contact with the EU Institutions;
  • Coordinate the association’s work in EU funded projects.


Qualifications, Skills and Knowledge:

  • University education, preferably in a Business, Policy or Technical related discipline;
  • Detailed knowledge of EU Institutions’ functioning and of standardisation
  • Knowledge of policy on digital-related topics;
  • Proven experience in standardisation bodies;
  • Extensive and proven experience in the regulatory and regulated sides in the technology industry (at least 5 years);
  • Excellent report writing and documentation skills, including the ability to adapt style and content to a different audience; good presentation skills are an asset;
  • Fluency in written and spoken English; other EU languages are an asset;
  • Familiar with working on a rapidly changing and dynamic environment;
  • Can demonstrate enthusiasm and ability to take ownership of projects and ensure they are delivered;
  • A reliable team player, able to work as part of a team and lead it;
  • An energetic self-starter, happy to work pro-actively;
  • Capable of working towards results with minimal supervision;
  • Enjoys working under pressure in order to meet deadlines and can priorities workload autonomously;
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and proven ability to influence all levels;
  • Creative thinker able to propose solutions;
  • Strong analytical and financial mind;
  • Sense of humour!

 Work experience: 6+ years of relevant experience.
