If the time is ready for gradually loosening lockdown measures, telework remains to be preferred for an indeterminate period and could even become the new standard for companies. When the lockdown was announced, companies had to set up telework in a hurry, while some employees were teleworking for the first time. However, two months after its implementation, telework is no longer temporary and needs to be rethought.

The introduction of telework in an emergency situation has raised many cybersecurity issues, without having time to anticipate them. Working remotely can increase the risk of cybersecurity incidents: connecting from home, transferring large data and backing up data, downloading intrusive software and applications, etc.

Since the beginning of the lockdown, companies have faced an upsurge in cyberattacks. Cybercriminals take advantage of the situation and exploit the numerous security vulnerabilities. These cyberattacks range from phishing to the introduction into the company’s IT system, and can be disastrous for the companies’ business activity. Being generally less prepared, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are the most vulnerable.

The majority of cyber attacks could be prevented through better awareness and information for business leaders and their employees. That’s why DIGITAL SME France and the European project Cyberwatching.eu offer a free online workshop for SMEs to inform about the precautions to take for a secure telework and to prepare for the return to work in the offices.

The following points will be discussed during the workshop:

• Learn how to work from home safely
• Understand how to use your wi-fi safely
• Save your files securely
• Know risky situations and cyberattack techniques
• Preparing for the resumption of activity and the return to the office of employees

Two speakers, Etienne Laveau of Steel PC and Dominique Lo Sardo of Openfield, digital security experts, will inform participants about digital threats, explain the reflexes to adopt and the technical devices to deploy to work remotely safely.

The workshop will take place online on Monday, May 25 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
