How will the Data Act Impact SMEs?
DIGITAL SME’s Focus Group Artificial Intelligence, together with EUH4D, organised a discussion on the Data Act on Wednesday, 20 April at 16.00 CEST.
The upcoming Data Act will set out new rules and requirements for handling and sharing data. SMEs need to adapt to the new legislation that provides opportunities and challenges — incorporating data practices and insights to their business while making data more available to other companies.
Understanding how SMEs can take advantage of this new legislation will help European companies to integrate into the European data economy, provided that they have the information, skills and vision to do so. The federation of data-driven Digital Innovation Hubs that the EUHubs4Data project has brought together provide services for SMEs so that they are able to develop their data driven innovation and understanding the Data Act and its impact will be one area in which they can help SMEs gain an edge.
This monthly meeting of the FG AI focused on discussing the Data Act from the perspective of SMEs. In addition, in the second part of the meeting with our Focus Group, we focused on the role of Digital Innovation Hubs in the wider data economy. In specific, one of the hubs of the Federation, will showcase the services they offer to SMEs, and companies will be able to share their user stories and case studies so that the impact of the Data Act can be better understood.
