New EU initiatives to ease the transition of AI Act regulatory compliance for SMEs

In July 2024 the European Union introduced new legislation laying the foundations for regulating AI in the EU: The EU AI Act (2024/1689). It provides AI developers and deployers with requirements and obligations regarding specific uses of AI. The regulation seeks to reduce administrative and financial burdens for businesses, particularly small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), however, the stakeholders should be aware of the requirements and how and when they will affect their operations.

The earliest obligations from the AI Act will start to apply already in February 2025 with prohibitions on certain AI systems, so it is important to keep informed!

To ease the transition of regulatory compliance for SMEs, the following EU initiative is launched:

  • EUSAiR – Implements regulatory sandboxes as mandated by the AI Act. Providing broad access to regulatory sandboxes will help SMEs reduce compliance costs and overcome market barriers.

If you are interested in being the first one to take advantage of the newly developed tools, guidelines, and training or to be included in the regulatory sandboxes, please provide your contact information below.
