The association has well over 90 members consisting of IT companies, universities and research and innovation institutes.

Cluj IT also works and has developed numerous partnerships with the public sector and many supporting communities. The cluster aims to increase the competitiveness of the IT sector, the visibility of the Romanian IT industry as well as position Cluj as a digital innovation hub. The association supports the uptake of digital technologies and skills and promotes an open approach where relevant stakeholders can contribute and benefit from the digital transformation of the global economy and society.

“CLUJ IT is a key player in unleashing the potential of the Romanian ICT sector. This is of particular importance as Romania lags in terms of digital performance compared to other EU countries according to the DESI Index. DIGITAL SME looks forward to supporting the association in fostering the Romania IT industry and innovation ecosystem,” said DIGITAL SME President Dr Oliver Grün.

“Cluj IT Cluster has been established 10 years ago in Cluj-Napoca, Romania and our message from the very beginning was simple, yet impactful: if we want to grow sustainably, we need to innovate, and we need to support digital transformation in all aspects of life. Today, with more than 10% of the total active workforce engaged in the IT Industry, our hometown is dubbed the Silicon Valley of Europe. And we have had our share in building it. It is time for us to move to a new perspective, on a broader scale. And we believe that being part of the European DIGITAL SME Alliance family is one of the best ways to achieve this goal. We are happy to join the Alliance and create this way new avenues for collaboration and prosperity for our members and stakeholders. I am personally looking forward to the coming years,” declared Andrei Kelemen, CEO of Cluj IT.

CLUJ IT Cluster joins our SME family of 45,000 companies across the European Union. The European DIGITAL SME Alliance is the largest network of ICT small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Europe.
