Agro Infinity SRL

Romania

ABOUT US

Agro Infinity, after its first year of establishment, successfully launched the first industrial production facility for an innovative and sustainable hydroponic germination and microplants growth system using vegetable fiber from industrial hemp, a material typically treated as plant waste due to the lack of advanced industrial processing units. Introducing vegetable fiber, such as hemp fiber, as a hydroponic growth medium has increased the economic value of native hemp crops, contributing to the competitiveness of domestic hemp growers. Agro Infinity's Babylon Garden system, developed 100% in Romania based on circular economy principles, achieves a carbon-neutral to negative carbon footprint depending on its usage period. This reduction in carbon footprint is attributed to the successive use of hydroponic substrates made from hemp fiber. Industrial hemp can store 8-15 tons of CO2 per hectare cultivated (over 120 days) compared to 2-8 tons of CO2 per year for trees, depending on factors like growth duration, climate, and tree species. With just five employees, including two disadvantaged individuals, skilled in management, sales, research, and production, Agro Infinity quickly gained experience in developing and marketing its own products in the field of smart agriculture. Notably, they established the first domestic industrial production facility for hydroponic systems to grow germinated seeds and microgreens certified organic in response to the need for increased quantity and quality of legumes consumed in Romania (the lowest in the EU at 15 kg of root vegetables per year) and improved nutritional value (microgreens having up to 40 times more nutrients than traditional vegetables, according to the study "Assessment of vitamin and carotenoid concentrations of emerging food products" by Xiao et al. 2012). The company collaborates with outsourcing partners for developing components needed for the Babylon Garden system, both in Cluj and disadvantaged regions like Odorheiu Secuiesc and Neamț, for the production of MDF components, injected plastics, and polypropylene sheets required for the Babylon Garden system. All Babylon Garden component suppliers are exclusively within a 400 km radius of the logistics center in Cluj-Napoca. Their services and products include: A. Research and technology transfer services for the private sector in the field of smart agriculture. B. Products: the Babylon Garden hydroponic system, hydroponic growth substrates made from hemp fiber, and organic seeds. In terms of sustainability, the company is focused on long-term development of mature technologies for manufacturing and marketing materials for the food and construction sectors made from plant fibers with a negative carbon impact and superior properties compared to existing solutions. Agro Infinity has pioneered carbon-negative hydroponic substrates for growing germinated seeds and microplants from industrial hemp fiber, which are 100% biodegradable, compostable, and have natural anti-mold and pest-resistant properties. Innovation-wise, Agro Infinity has developed and introduced the first industrial-scale hydroponic product in the Romanian market, capable of producing up to 12,500 units per month – the Babylon Garden system. This product is the world's first of its kind, offering simultaneous benefits as follows: 1. Vertical layout (space-efficient, suitable for urban living). 2. Self-sustaining (requires only one watering, with microplant harvesting in 7-10 days using just 700 ml of water, compared to open-field crops which consume 12.5 times more water for the same amount of vegetables). 3. AI-powered support through a mobile app providing dynamic guidance based on weather forecasts and natural light exposure. 4. Environmental friendliness: The Babylon Garden system achieves a negative carbon emissions status by using hydroponic substrates made from industrial hemp fiber. 5. Competitive pricing: Agro Infinity offers the system at the lowest price in the EU compared to similar solutions, both for the system itself and organic seeds, with prices 30-80% lower than other competitors in Romania. 6. On the social front, Agro Infinity donated 10 Babylon Garden systems to the "O masă caldă" Association for the needy. Furthermore, for each Babylon Garden system sold, we donate 20 lei to the association (where every 20 lei donated provides 5 warm meals to those in need). Approximately 500 warm meals were donated in the first month of collaboration, with expectations of ongoing and increasing donations as the Babylon Garden hydroponic system gains popularity.

LOOKING FOR

We search for: 1. Funding opportunities regarding internationalization as well as distribution opportunities in the EU and USA. 2. Further development of the Babylon Garden ecosystem and AI development 3. Opportunities for further development in the biomaterials field, as we search to expand to this sector.
