About the Call for Experts

Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) are one of the core elements underpinning innovation. Since small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) encounter more obstacles than bigger companies when seeking to protect their innovations through IPR, they should benefit from a supportive environment that compensates for such an imbalance.

IPowerSMEs project aims to raise awareness of the importance of IPR among SMEs, and to help provide them with the necessary skills and knowledge to protect their innovations and thus maintain a sustainable business model.

In the framework of this initiative, European DIGITAL SME ALLIANCE launches a call for experts in the field of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) that will contribute to the development of a comprehensive guide tailored for SMEs. The objective of this guide is to empower SMEs with the knowledge necessary to navigate the complex landscape of intellectual property and protect their innovations.

Responsibilities of selected experts:

  • Collaborating with the project team to outline and develop content for the guide. Their participation to online co-design sessions and updates on state of development of the guide will be necessary, as instructed by the project team.
  • Develop the parts/s of the guide assigned to them in due time.
  • Providing insights, case studies, and practical examples to enhance the guide’s relevance.
  • Participating in review and feedback sessions to ensure accuracy and clarity of the content.
  • Participation to a webinar to present the guide to external stakeholders.
  • Contributing to the promotion campaign of the guide, as instructed by the project team.

Compensation and benefits

Selected experts will be compensated for their work a competitive rate, aligned with their expertise and the tasks assigned to them for the development of the guide. The compensation will cover the work for all activities dedicated to the development and dissemination of the guide: monthly meetings dedicated to co-creation and development update, actual development of assigned parts of the guide, feedback and review, participation to promotion webinar.

In addition to the above-mentioned financial compensation, selected experts will have the opportunity to become members of European DIGITAL SME’s Intellectual Property Rights Working Group, to identify pressing issues related to patents, copyright and general IPR considerations, and overall contribute to shaping the EU discourse on these matters.
