How does AI impact cybersecurity for SMEs? - European DIGITAL SME Alliance

How does AI impact cybersecurity for SMEs?

This webinar will examine how SMEs can navigate today’s cybersecurity landscape at a time when AI is accelerating both innovation and risk. It will cover the growing impact of AI-powered threats, including more convincing phishing, faster social engineering, and automated attack methods that make it harder for smaller organisations to defend themselves with limited resources.

The session will also discuss the role of AI in cybersecurity itself: how it can strengthen detection, response, and monitoring, but also how the rapid pace of change creates uncertainty for SMEs trying to decide what to trust, what to adopt, and how to manage new risks. A particular focus will be on AI Frontier Models, such as Claude’s Mythos release, which automate vulnerability discovery and can pose a significant threat to digital infrastructure and services due to their potential to exploit vulnerabilities.

In conjunction with the European Union Agency for Cybersecurity (ENISA), who are investigating the impact of AI Frontier models on the market and cybersecurity practices, this session will look at how companies are using AI. Understanding whether SMEs are prepared for the latest developments in AI models will enable ENISA to produce accurate and helpful support so that companies can ensure that they are protected against cyber threats stemming from AI models.

Overall, the webinar aims to give SMEs a clearer view of the challenges ahead and practical context for making smarter cybersecurity decisions in an environment where both the threats and the solutions are changing quickly. The final session will be a discussion with ENISA on the challenges that Frontier AI Models present SMEs, with the aim of helping them develop accurate guidance. The short survey below will feed into the discussions in this session.
