The European DIGITAL SME Alliance’s new Focus Group Blockchain & Distributed Ledger Technologies will become a cardinal platform for the community of European SME blockchain innovators, and relay their needs by associating them to a wide range of stakeholders. It leverages and expands on the community of its previous Task Force Blockchain & DLT, active since 2020, by opening it up to a wider range of stakeholders.

By putting European SMEs at the center of its priorities, the Group will be the opportunity to converge expertise, network, and create a strong hub that may support further policy initiatives in the blockchain realm.

The event showcased funding opportunities in the blockchain domain, notably by leveraging the Focus Group’s partnership with the European-funded BlockStand project. It also served to launch a catalogue of members’ innovative solutions – where all interested companies will be invited to showcase their blockchain-based solutions across the DIGITAL SME large community, facilitating networking among like-minded peers.

A high-level policy keynote also opened a panel discussion centered on the business opportunities and challenges behind blockchain adoption by SMEs, with speakers from European institutions, SMEs, and important blockchain associations.

For the Group’s registered members, the remainder of the meeting further focused on the presentation of the Terms of Reference guiding the Group’s foreseen activities – notably the development of a catalogue of members’ innovative solutions, matchmaking sessions, and contributions to ongoing policy discussions.
